The time has come for my announcement….
I’m leaving the country.
That’s right, I was so distraught by the results of the UK’s EU referendum and the subsequent political fallout that I’m cutting my losses and fleeing abroad.
I’m joking of course, this has been in the pipeline for awhile. But just the other day I received my letter of release from Bangor University and now, as of mid September I will be moving to Austria as I have been accepted into the University of Vienna to begin a year of International Experience there studying history, before I return to Bangor for a final year.
Its going to be a huge opportunity and I’m very excited to see it through. Hopefully I will be able to cope with such a significant change in my life and I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t a little apprehensive about it all. The hardest part is that I won’t be joining my uni friends for their final year at Bangor, we’ve all shared and experienced a lot together over the last two years, but its a time I will never forget and I’m sure I’ll see them again, prehaps sooner than expected.
But what does this mean for the page, well if you like Austria then its great news. I will keep you all up to date throughout my year abroad and my additional travels. Though prehaps I’ll have to change the name as I can hardly call myself Student in Snowdonia when I’m over 1000 miles away, in fact I’m not even in Snowdonia right now, I’m sitting comfortably in my home in Sussex (I’m more like Student In and Out of Snowdonia). Not too worry though, I’ve still got plenty of stories and pictures from my last two years in Snowdonia, so it’s not going to completely fall off the map. Furthermore I’m actually giving myself a schedule now, so you can expect new posts every Monday, Thursday and Saturday between 16:00 and 17:00 GMT+1. Things to expect over the summer include my holidays in Italy, Portugal, maybe Australia and I will be heading out to Austria in August for a few days so I’ll be sure to make a post about that.
I’m also going to continue remolding the site and I hoping to improve my social media presence. In fact I’m now posting regularly on Instagram, so if you want to see photos that don’t normally make onto the site then check that out.
Finally I’d like to say a big thank you to my Mum and Dad (I know they will read this) who are supporting me during this move and I’ll also like to say a special thanks to Lynnae at So I’m Lost Again, who’s experiences of studying abroad in Germany served as really big inspiration for me.
Wonderful, many congratulations!

How exciting! Good luck with your studies abroad. I’m looking forward to reading all about your new experiences. I don’t know much about Vienna other than the film The Third Man was set/filmed there and there are many, many shops selling cakes of all descriptions – a photo challenge for you – to climb the cake mountain 🙂

I really enjoying this blog, even though uni work gets too much sometimes, and this move presents me with a ton more opportunities in way of things to write about 🙂

Congratulations! Vienna is an amazing city, sure you’ll find some mountains around Austria as a temporary substitute for Snowdonia! 🙂

We’ll see, it won’t be like in Bangor where I can just hop in my car and drive wherever and Vienna is in lower parts of Austria but hopefully there will be a walking society or some sort at the uni which organises trips out to the mountains

This is so exciting! It’s very humbling to think that I inspired you. You will love it, and the nerves will pass. If you have any questions or just want to chat through things you’re nervous about, don’t be afriad to reach out. Also, if you’re ever over by Konstanz, we should definitely meet up!

Have a great move in September! How exciting. Vienna will inspire you, for sure. In the meantime, enjoy a wonderful summer in the UK. You can always call your blog ex-student in Snowdonia, an easy and temporary fix, now and later again. 🙂
